Full-field X-ray Microscopes (LTXM and TXM)
Soft X-rays with energies in the so-called water window are beginning to fill the gap in resolution between electron and visible light microscopy. In full-field transmission X-ray microscopes (TXMs), the sample is imaged onto a CCD detector. TXMs are particularly well suited for tomography. With laboratory source transmission X-ray microscopes (LTXM), there is no need to travel to a synchrotron source anymore.
